Collection of sketches from the CA50 branding project. These were various logotypes I sketched and submitted for review. The lettering near the middle was then re-drawn with slight variations. 

I had the privilege to collaborate with BXC to help create this vodka packaging for CA50. I helped specifically with the typographic logo and original illustrations for the background on the labels. Learn more…

These gig posters were personal projects I was compelled to design while listening to the artists and looking for upcoming concerts. The Animal Collective poster was more of a literal interpretation of the band name. The type is actually a font that I chose to continue with the sketchy theme.

Friendly Fires is a sort of indie dance-punk band (you may have heard them in Nintendo Wii Fit commercials). While listening to their song “Bring Out Your Dead,” imagery of skull shaped disco ball popped into my head. A silver/chrome head just didn’t seem loud enough for this band’s image, so a rainbow “disco” skull was born.

Personal editorial project - Version 1. Magazine spread design about Korean pop artist Jay Park. Article was originally written for SPIN, but I felt the imagery for his newest album was so strong that it should be used in a magazine. This was an exercise I did to work on my editorial and print skills.

Miscellaneous logos created in classes. The Swiss Connection logo was created for a real chocolate distributor in the Orlando area as a possible rebrand. Most students in my class pulled from the Swiss flag or Swiss grid design. However, my inpiration came from Swiss folk art and paper cutting, which I found to be sophisticated much like the high-end chocolate they sold.

Ollie’s Orchard was a fictious beer brand that infused fruit flavors into their brews. Because of the “orchard” name and that my flavor was McIntosh apple, the O of the logo reflects that. The L’s and even the dot over the I were made to look like tree branches and a leaf.

Old website design for my portfolio. It featured a one page scroll interface with subpages at the top that led to my work. At the time, my grandfather had given me a bag of old fabric my grandmother had stored away. This floral print caught my eye and I thought it was be a really great idea to use scanned fabric as a background in a project after she passed away. This website was designed in Photoshop and then imported into Fireworks and Dreamweaver for coding.

Various pattern designs created for Queen of Heart’s products to be used on bookmarks, cards, iPhone backgrounds, and wrapping paper. Some were hand drawn and then scanned in, while others were created digitally.

I was approached by a design firm to help with concept design for the rebranding of Nature’s Table restaurants. Our client was searching for a simple and fresh design that would modernize their current brand. My first two designs focused on the idea of making nature out of items we use when eating (fork disguised as a tulip and a sun made out of a plate and utensils). My last design was an interpretation of the name of the company because in other cultures they use leaves as plates or utensils.

Tijuana Flats logo created during an internship at Push. This is one of their many logos which shows up on menus, basket liners, and cups. The basic bottle and wings was already part of their collection except it had their typographic logo on it. I added the skull, helped with the type, and chose the colors.

Baby card design for my card shop, Queen of Hearts Paper Goods. My friend and I used to make a joke about how babies are brewed in the womb. That idea was then transformed into a card because the idea was so clever. Of course this is an IPA brew - Intense Pain Ahead. 

All products for my line are designed, printed, cut, and shipped by me. Right now they are sold through Etsy, an online marketplace that values handcrafted goods.

Personal editorial project - Version 2. Magazine spread design about Korean pop artist Jay Park. Article was originally written for SPIN. For this version I took a more elegant approach, using muted colors and easy to read type. Because of the difference in vibe from the last version, I chose a different set of promotional pictures to use.

I have a friend who is very into movies. When I heard she was going to try and watch all the movies on AFI’s “Greatest Films of all Time” list, I thought it’d be a great idea to create a large poster to visual it. This poster showcases #1 which is Citizen Kane and lists the other movies in order of their ranking. My friend ended up watching them all within a year.

Mother and Father’s Day card designs for Queen of Hearts Paper Goods. I had gotten this idea after listening to British people say “mum” far too many times. It just so happened that the zombie trend was alive and well at the time making it the perfect fit for a new product. After giving this card to my mother, my sibling said I should make a version for Father’s Day too. Of course! Zombie dad just loves firing up the brain grill.
